The village of Yunquera nestles high up in the mountain region of the protected 'Blue Pine' forests. The views from the village are quite fantastic, down the centre of the valley all the way to Malaga, 54km away, with the villages & towns in between, then high above, the rugged mountain tops, sometimes snow-capped in winter.
The scenery around the village is spectacular from lush, green mountainsides covered in orange groves to dramatic rock formations looming high above. The drive to the historic town of Ronda, 35km away is particularly stunning, as is the onward journey to the city of Seville.
The village itself is typically Spanish. Narrow, windy streets, whitewashed houses, a beautiful church, lots of donkeys, goats and horses & several fiestas that seem to go on for days!
There are several very good restaurants, (including a roast chicken & pizza shop!) The local supermarket has a decent selection of groceries along with 4 butchers, 3 fishmongers and 3 bakeries.
